New Commercial Kitchen, Chantry Hall Montessori Nursery

Wise Facilities Maintenance & Compliance were commissioned by Asquith Day Nurseries to install a new commercial kitchen at its nursery on Muswell Hill in London. This was our first project working for Bright Horizons Family Solutions since its acquisition of Asquith in November 2016.

OVERVIEW

We were asked by the client to replace the existing domestic kitchen with a new commercial-grade kitchen.

A key requirement of the brief was to utilise the existing kitchen layout to make efficient use of the space, whilst accommodating all the required equipment in the correct places. We also had to take into consideration when designing the new kitchen layout, adherence to the general rule of the “Golden Triangle”, to create a safe and efficient working environment for the nursery’s kitchen staff.

The nursery is housed in a newly-built hall on three levels. It comprises a baby room, toddler room, nursery room, pre-school room and outdoor play area.

WORK WE DID

The scope of work for the installation of this new commercial kitchen project included:

  • Initial visit to the nursery to carry out a survey of the existing kitchen and layout.
  • Presentation of 2D and 3D designs.
  • Provision of recommendation for design, fixtures and fittings, plus full costing for client consideration.
  • Supply and fit of new commercial kitchen.
  • Commercial kitchen installed with no disruption to nursery operations

Out of hours service resulted in no disruption for the nursery

All work was completed under tight programming constraints which required our planning expertise. The project took our multi-disciplinary team of eight just 25 hours on site to complete from start to finish, with all works completed out of hours during the weekend. For the client, this meant that there was no disruption to the day-to-day operations of the nursery – no loss of cooking or food prep facilities, no loss of revenue for the nursery.

On completion of the project, the client was provided will all legislative installation certification, together with operational and maintenance documentation. We also provided the client with a 12-month guarantee on all works completed, and 24-hour service support on all equipment installed and workmanship.
