Property Wise were appointed to refurbish this quiescent D1 nursery building in Islington, London which was slowly falling into disrepair and whilst not in use, the property was not providing any income or return on investment for the client.

Property Wise were appointed by Asquith Day Nurseries to refurbish the building’s interior and to renovate the external area to ensure that the nursery building reflected the Asquith design concept and met its high standards for safety and security.

Property Wise Facilities Management were approached by Asquith Day Nurseries and Pre-Schools to carry out a refurbishment at its Prestbury Pre-School & Day Nursery. This was the first major project completed by Property Wise for this nursery chain.

OVERVIEW

A refurbishment of Prestbury Pre-School & Day Nursery, which is a 19th century building located in Macclesfield, Cheshire, was required to ensure that the nursery building reflected the Asquith design concept and met its high standards for safety and security.

The nursery comprises a baby room, toddler room, nursery room, two pre-school rooms and 2 external gardens.

WORK WE DID

  • Relocation of the laundry room.
  • Installation of new data and communications network.
  • Supply and fit of an unvented electric water cylinder.
  • Supply and fit of new LED lighting throughout building.
  • Supply and fit of a bespoke kitchen and larder units to take into consideration the age of the building and floor subsidence.
  • Treatment of dry wood rot of first floor.
  • Commercial painting of all rooms.

To commemorate this as our first project for Asquith, we donated a new swinging sign to replace the nursery’s old sign which was taken down in the 1990’s for health and safety reasons.

Property Wise Facilities Management were approached by Asquith Day Nurseries to carry out a major refurbishment and fit-out of its nursery in Glasgow, Four Seasons at Skypark.

OVERVIEW

A complete refurbishment and fit-out of Four Seasons at Skypark, which is situated within the Skypark building in Glasgow City Centre, was required to ensure that the nursery building reflected the Asquith design concept and met its high standards for safety and security.

The nursery comprises 370 sq. mt. and includes a baby room, toddler room, nursery room, 3 – 5 years room and outdoor spaces.

WORK WE DID

  • Electrical safety compliance inspection, testing, recommendations and repairs.
  • Gas safety compliance inspection, testing, recommendations and repairs.
  • Complete fit-out of a new commercial kitchen.
  • New entrance hall and access control system.
  • Build of self-contained, designated nappy changing room to comply with Scottish laws.
  • Commercial painting of all rooms.
  • Laying of non-slip flooring.
  • Installation of new data and communications network.
  • Installation of CCTV security system.
  • Fit-out of cabinets in all rooms.

All work was completed under tight programming constraints which required our planning expertise. The project took our multi-disciplinary team six weeks to complete from start to finish with all works completed out of hours during the weekends. The commercial kitchen was completed within just 48 hours.

Property Wise was appointed by Asquith Nursery & Pre-Schools to supply and fit a new commercial kitchen for their nursery in North Weald, Essex.

OVERVIEW

North Weald Pre-School & Day Nursery is located within a timber framed barn, set within North Weald Golf Club’s beautifully landscaped grounds. We were asked by the client to replace the existing domestic kitchen with a new commercial-grade kitchen from where they prepare meals and snacks daily for the nursery children.

WORK WE DID

  • Electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Supply and fit of new commercial kitchen.
  • Supply and fit of non-slip flooring in kitchen.
  • Installation of easy-to-clean hygienic walls.

From our initial site visit, we discovered that the building only had a two-phase electric board. The incoming power to the building was a three-phase but following discussions with the landlord, we were informed that the cable had been previously damaged and left unrepaired. The area where the damaged cable was located was excavated, repaired and completed overnight for minimum disruption. We successfully located the fault and carried out the necessary repairs.

The old domestic kitchen was removed together with a stud wall between the kitchen and the former laundry room. Once completed, our team lay new blue artic non-slip flooring in the kitchen area, again overnight. White hygienic walls were fitted to give the kitchen a clean, fresh look and provide easy-to-clean facilities for EHO purposes. A bespoke, modern, free-standing commercial kitchen was then fitted.

All work was completed under tight programming constraints which required our planning expertise. We began work on site at 6pm on a Friday evening and completed at 8pm on the following Sunday.

Property Wise Facilities Management were approached by Abacus Ark Nursery Schools to provide safe, legals and compliance advice and to carry out remedial work to ensure that the its nursery at Clapham Junction, St John’s Hill met the required safety and security standards.

OVERVIEW

Abacus Ark is a London based nursery group with 3 Nursery settings situated in Maida Vale, Clapham Junction and Wandsworth. Property Wise were appointed to ensure the nursery properly satisfied its legal and safety obligations by carrying out the necessary compliance tests and inspections, and completing remedial work as required.

WORK WE DID

  • Advised client to obtain an electrical installation condition report, to install fire doors, to fit finger guards, and to improve security via a new door entry access system and install CCTV.
  • Supply and fit of fire doors (including FDS30/60 where required).
  • Supply and fit finger guards on all newly installed fire doors.
  • Installation of a new door entry system.
  • Supply and fit of a 16 camera, audio-enabled CCTV system.

Property Wise has since been appointed to carry out additional maintenance services at this site.

Property Wise Facilities Management were approached by Asquith Day Nurseries to create a new baby unit and conference centre by converting two floors that were in disrepair within the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Cheadle Royal.

OVERVIEW

We were asked by the client to manage the design, specification and to carry out the refurbishment and fit-out of the new nursery facilities.

WORK WE DID

  • Minor alterations to the buildings structure.
  • The construction of a purpose-built sleep room.
  • Supply and fit of a new commercial food prep area.
  • Installation of new kitchen areas in each baby room.
  • Fitted hard surface safety flooring and carpet in selected areas throughout the building.
  • Commercial painting of all rooms.
  • Installation of a 9 camera CCTV system which is audio-enabled.
  • Fit-out of a new conference suite including audio visual and conference seating and tables.

Stunning new nursery garden 

As we neared completion of the internal works, the scope of works changed significantly. We were asked by our client to refurbish the external area to provide a new baby garden and to utilise a previously unused small veranda outside space, thus increasing the usable space in an already compact nursery. Despite time being against us, we completely transformed the external areas to provide a stunning all-weather outdoor play area equipped with Astro-turf, a baby tipi and hobbit house.

Fast turnaround

The fit-out of the outdoor play area was completed in under 2.5 days and demonstrates our ability to be flexible in order to meet clients’ requirements. The project was completed just-in-time for the nursery’s pre-booked open days.

Property Wise was appointed to carry out a refurbishment of commercial offices by Oaktree Environmental Ltd.

OVERVIEW

Located on a major industrial estate in Winsford, Cheshire environmental consultants, Oaktree Environmental appointed Property Wise to carry out a refurbishment of its office interior.

WORK WE DID

  • Supply and fit of commercial carpet tile flooring throughout.
  • Commercial painting and decorating.
  • Supply and fit of a small kitchen area.
  • General joinery and plumbing works.
  • Supply and fit of new suspended ceilings.
  • External drainage works.

Property Wise Facilities Management were commissioned by Asquith Day Nurseries to install a new commercial kitchen at its nursery on Muswell Hill in London. This was our first project working for Bright Horizons Family Solutions since its acquisition of Asquith in November 2016.

OVERVIEW

We were asked by the client to replace the existing domestic kitchen with a new commercial-grade kitchen.

A key requirement of the brief was to utilise the existing kitchen layout to make efficient use of the space, whilst accommodating all the required equipment in the correct places. We also had to take into consideration when designing the new kitchen layout, adherence to the general rule of the “Golden Triangle”, to create a safe and efficient working environment for the nursery’s kitchen staff.

The nursery is housed in a newly-built hall on three levels. It comprises a baby room, toddler room, nursery room, pre-school room and outdoor play area.

WORK WE DID

The scope of work for the installation of this new commercial kitchen project included:

  • Initial visit to the nursery to carry out a survey of the existing kitchen and layout.
  • Presentation of 2D and 3D designs.
  • Provision of recommendation for design, fixtures and fittings, plus full costing for client consideration.
  • Supply and fit of new commercial kitchen.
  • Commercial kitchen installed with no disruption to nursery operations

Out of hours service resulted in no disruption for the nursery

All work was completed under tight programming constraints which required our planning expertise. The project took our multi-disciplinary team of eight just 25 hours on site to complete from start to finish, with all works completed out of hours during the weekend. For the client, this meant that there was no disruption to the day-to-day operations of the nursery – no loss of cooking or food prep facilities, no loss of revenue for the nursery.

On completion of the project, the client was provided will all legislative installation certification, together with operational and maintenance documentation. We also provided the client with a 12-month guarantee on all works completed, and 24-hour service support on all equipment installed and workmanship.
